Fallen Brothers from Bridgeport - 07/30/2010
On Saturday July 24th Bridgeport Fire Fighters Lieutenant Steven J. Velasquez and Fire Fighter Michel Baik were killed in the line of duty. Services for Lieutenant Velasquez and Fire Fighter Baik will be held on Friday in Bridgeport. At the conclusion of the services a Congregation of Firefighters honoring our fallen Brothers will be held for all Fire Fighters at Harbor Yard, 600 Main Street Bridgeport, Ct. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these brave men and to the Bridgeport Fire Department during this very difficult time. Read more.

Tanker Shuttle Drill - 06/05/2010

2010 Explorer of the Year - 05/01/2010
The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department would like to congratulate Mr. Brad Hoffman for his being selected as the 2010 Explorer of the year. Mr. Hoffman is a member of Explorer post 43. The Explorers meet on Tuesday evenings and assist the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department with a variety of tasks both on and off the fire ground. 2010 Fire Department Awards Banquet - 03/06/2010
The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department held its Annual Banquet on March 6th at the Ellington Ridge Country Club, in Ellington, Connecticut. Approximately 100 fire department members and guests attended, along with Town and State officials.
Frederick H. Bird was given the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department 2009 Firefighter of the Year Award among many other awards. Read more.

EVFD in the REMINDER NEWS - 02/16/2010

Mountain Street House Fire - 02/14/2010

2009 Call Volume - 01/28/2010
In 2009 the Ellington Volunteer Fire department responded to 708 emergency calls for service in, totaling over 582 hours in emergency scene duration and using over 6481 EVFD personnel hours. These hours reflect only emergency response activity; training, public education and readiness activities are all in addition. In the last six months of 2009 (July through December) there were 339 emergency responses, totaling over 296 hours in emergency scene duration and using over 3609 EVFD personnel hours. This reflects a decrease in call volume by 34 responses but a significant increase of over 1080 hours spent on emergency activity by the Ellington firefighters. The call type breakdown for 2009 was 28 fires, 423 Rescue, Emergency Medical, 66 Hazardous Conditions, 64 Service Calls, 31 Good Intent Calls, 81 False Alarms, 13 Severe Weather Incidents. Read more.
